Hi Romy you mentioned once somewhere, knowing upfront youd add the resonance channel, you had it all done different. What particularly you would make different in your system? cheers, Josh...
|
hi RomyConfusing description this headphone alikeliness. I heard couple of strong beaming horns and noticed despite the good resolution (equivalent to dampened room) also a very narrow stage. Especially the center usually being like a meter or two cl...

yap. the Olympian uses 70-500-5000-15000 cycles XO.
While the Palladian shifts to 70-400-5000-15000 cycles. (mainly due to cost saving on the AK151 phaseplug-design)
They use 6th order LR filters in the lows, 2nd order in the ...

i see the words time alignment quiet often in this forum :)Which is a good thing. But can you show a graph / measure that says what it means in a result?Or do you just mean the woofer is standing next to the mains?Cheers Josh ...
|
hi Anthony Im not saying to use ribbons (really not) but why you’re afraid of high capacitance that kind of shortens the resistance in high frequencies while you’re not playing the woofers in those (>10k) ?It’s purely AC issue that only appears wh...

Hi Anthony Agree, waste is waste. The bigger the better. If you care bout sound too, i recommend the RG213 radio cable. Its perfect for that purpose. First, its coaxial which eliminates the inductance. Second its very hard so that during vibration th...

Hi Gera
Problem i see, all drivers are bandpass with 2nd Order themselves by nature.
Horns even 4th sometimes/often.
Having a beautiful perfect transient first order crossover will not bring the same results on the output...

hi RomyNice bias battery gimmick for the el-caps!But, i see the hardcore analogue teams are having a hard time with room modes and time alignment :)I wonder what it takes to admit one day that you can’t neglect DSP anymore, and just having so much ea...

hehe following your advice loading the Vitavox into small horn... you'll slowly get like the Vox Olympian :)Now some compromises for the usual domestic customer, and you can understand how Kevin got his concept in the first place ...
|
Hi Romy
In my experiments, the corner loading influenced largely between 120 and 350. Above 350 u need a phaseplug on the cone.
Below 120 its pretty much immune to the details of corner loading, max a bit.
Below 50 its even sensitive to the wall m...

hi Paul
I was just checking recently.
My electrostatics work great, they also got excellent radiation in HF as the outer stators are lowpassed, so im using very slim 1 inch stripe (50 inch high) in the center only. Excellent radiation and smooth...

Wow, Romy, respect. For an analogue 5-6 way in room response... that's amazing! Esp. mid-highs. Id never guess.
I can imagine that khorn graph sounds difficult. Wouldn't blame the horn for that, rather the room modes.
The 75 cycle suckout likely ...

Hi PaulWhy don't you take any tweeter u like, hook up a second in reverse phase on its back?Cheers Josh ...

Hi Romy!
Im taking the risk of u punching me in the face...
Its been some months I tried an SS amp of a different kind. I personally don't like the SET sound, but aknowledge some of their advantages from technical POV.
Found this here

hi Anthony. Don't forget to make a brief listen with the stuffings. I predict u might be surprised. Especially with focus on "live sound", soul, tapping feet, joy etc... crunchy beat vs fat slow base :)...

hi anthony, have fun with that, results are worth it. Your findings don't need to match mine but i share my favorite briefly :)I found explanation from an famous german engineer. Hes calculating an Rms thiele small to indicate mechanical friction los...

Hi Anthony. No miracles. Round shapes happen to be far more rigid than flat. That will also increase the pressure on the flat opposite plate, which has to be of quadruple stability. You can easily eliminate this by the so called impulse compensation ...

Hi. I got different oppinion bout the XO.For sure it has influence on the lobing. Definately, depending on which filter type u use, it will create different on- and off axis response.E.g. i like cutting the supertweeter at 8k with butterworth even or...
|
hi Woitek. The K33 extend the bottom end by the high Q, to almost 40 cycles . Which is only ok if you work with passive XO on a single amp. Well that's how they were designed. Having designated amps that allow you to steer the parameter or even bett...
|
priviet. I tried many ways. I cut the front outside faceplate open, and put a second driver on it. So that two drivers were firing onto each other face to face in one single hornthroat, rest normal single K. To my surprise the output didn't increase ...

Luckily, im just bored in the office, so I can reply right away ;-)
Well. That guy looks like doing nice quality. Id go there.
Knowing your profile a bit, Im not surprised you don't want a digital delay on your mains.
For me theres no non-digi...

A buddy tried for fun something that came to our mind. Extending the front. He put a quartersqare on the flat face. By that you smoothly extend and connect both mouth ends left and right. You can also use a half circle with 80cm diameter. In combinati...

Some wrong oppinions here :) As a fan I studiet it very precise. I mean very down to each inch. The path length is 1.68 Meters, Throat 250 square centimeter (7.5x33), mouth 2x25 / 50 x 97 cm = 5000sqcmThat makes a compression of almost 4:1Gives a cuto...

hi RomyA friend of mine tested it and found that he likes the faster dryer response. His colleague used many big PAs, while he had about 20 times 8 inchers. He first assumed must be the mass, but in lows its not sooo relevant. The computer simulation...

no offense buddy :) just the youtube......

i noticed these videos / new fashion weeks ago and was wondering , wtf is that? Who would watch this and for which purpose? Does anyone????Crazy world. Soon people will start saying "last month i went for vacation to lonely planet"...

Ya its not scientific. Anyway hard-to-measure topic.
But worth to share! Nice also describing same perception and approach like your opening post.
Interesting to see how they solve it, installing a complete board for resonance. And leaving a gap t...
